Tecovas: Setting up shop

Located in Georgetown on Main Street below the Williamson County Sun offices, Tecovas is scheduled for a soft opening on September 25, with formal opening on September 27.  Tecovas is an Austin-based apparel chain specializing in boots and Western wear.

Williamson County ESD shifts from volunteer to paid firefighters

With industry and development, comes an increase in population. In rural communities, the demand to keep citizens and property safe also spikes to the point where adjustments need to be made.

Photos: Flock prepares to leave as summer ends

As summer nears its conclusion, the egrets making their home at the rookery in Taylor’s Murphy Park will soon move on. These migratory birds arrive here each spring to add to their families, usually leaving by late-September, or early-October.

The Waterloo Cotton Gin, a few minutes east of Taylor, along County Road 414, is beginning cotton harvest season on a high note this year, after last summer’s combination of triple digit heat and drought made it hard for farmers and cotton gins in 2023.

Liberty Hill attempted murder leads to three arrests

 Three individuals were arrested in connection to an attempted murder in Liberty Hill earlier this year, and Williamson County officials provided an update about the case Wednesday, September 18.On March 8, at approximately 2:30 a.m.

GISD reports progress on voter-approved bonds

Georgetown ISD officials last week reported progress on 2024 bond projects to its Citizens Advisory Committee, the group that created the $649.5 million bond package approved by voters in May.All four of GISD’s bond propositions passed.

It was a very hot day last Friday, and eight kindergarten children at San Gabriel Elementary School could hardly wait to be doused with cold water.Wiggling and giggling, the youngsters wait in a row, older students standing behind with full buckets as classmates cheered them on.

H-E-B donates $20,000 to Geogetown nonprofits

 After reporting earlier this year that a new H-E-B would be built in Northwest Georgetown near Ronald Reagan Boulevard and Ranch Road 2338, the Texas grocery chain officially announced on September 10 it has begun construction on the business.
