Tax rate slashed: Jarrell budget approval comes down to wire

Hours before the official start of the new fiscal year, Jarrell City Council approved the city’s budget with a 3-2 vote during a special meeting on September 30. Alderman Jeff Seidel and Daniel Islas voted against the budget.

Ascension Seton Williamson embarks on expansion

 Ascension Seton Williamson broke ground on a $230 million Round Rock hospital expansion project September 26. The project will bring a new six-story tower, along with 160 beds, two new operating rooms, an additional MRI, a new cath lab, an observation unit and an expanded emergency room.

Mamma Jamma Ride supports Lone Star Circle of Care

Coordinated by Lone Star Circle of Care, the Mamma Jamma Ride raises funds for Lone Star's Big Pink Bus, their mobile mammography unit.  The ride honors those who are battling breast cancer, or those who lost their lives to the disease.

The Irreverent Warriors group took a 6.1 mile Silkies Hike through Georgetown on Saturday, September 21. The hike began and concluded at VFW Post 8587 on College Street.

VFW Post 8587 held its inaugural car and motorcycle show on College Street Saturday, September 21, 2024.

City moves forward with short-term rental regulations

Georgetown will implement a registration permit requirement to help keep track of the growing number of short-term rentals offered throughout the city. Registration will be used to make sure Hotel Occupancy Taxes are being collected and paid to the city.
