County addresses child abuse

The Williamson County Commissioners Court declared April as Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month during the April 9 meeting.

ROCK passes donation goal at Barn Dance

 - Phots by Nalani Nuylan   Ride Along Center for Kids surpassed its donation goal during the Saddle Up portion of the 18th annual Barn Dance, Saturday, April 6.    With an initial goal of $125,000, Saddle Up donors raised over $151,000. Funds will go to facility operations and supplies.
Roger Booker traveled from Maryland for the eclipse on Monday, April 8,2024, during a total eclipse event held at the Southwestern University campus.  A crowd of about 200 people show up to watch the transformation to a total solar eclipse a little after 1:30 p.m.  Expected rain held off until a little after 4:30 p.m.

City announces Two Step Inn street, park closures

Some streets around San Gabriel Park will be closed beginning April 10 as the Two Step Inn music festival approaches. The Two Step Inn festival is April 20-21. Festival set up, which includes installation of safety fencing, will start April 10.

Star light, star bright

When Donna Leonard and her husband moved to Liberty Hill from California in 2015, her two older children paid a visit. It was a family tradition to look at the night sky and try to find a shooting star, so her family went star gazing at the back end of their new property.

Jarrell ISD trustees name new middle school to open in 2025

Jarrell ISD’s new middle school has been named Jarrell Ranch Middle School. Trustees unanimously approved the name on March 27. Jarrell Ranch Middle School, a  2023 bond project, is under construction on the east side of Farm to Market Road 487. It is scheduled to open in August 2025.

Georgetown continues transit talks

The City of Georgetown continues to look at ways to improve and expand its public transportation options. During a March 26 workshop, city council heard proposed ideas and what the next steps include for the Transportation Development Plan.
