Williamson County launches first Citizens’ Academy

The first-ever Williamson County Government Citizens’ Academy will be held in April.   The eight-week course is designed to provide insight into the inner workings of county government and showcase the opportunities county residents have to be involved in their community.

Georgetown City Council to raise maximum Square building heights

As part of the continued discussion around building heights in the downtown area, Georgetown City Council provided city staff direction to raise the allowed building height in the outer parts of the nineblock Square from 40 feet.

17-year-old dies of fentanyl poisoning in Liberty Hill

The Williamson County Sheriff's Office Organized Crime Unit responded to a call on February 29, around 7 p.m. at the 100 Block of Round Up Drive, near Liberty Hill Small Engine Repair. The call was regarding a suspected fentanyl poisoning death of a 17-year-old male.

Williamson County nonprofits set for 2024 gala

The Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA of Williamson County will host the 2024 Destination: Hope Gala on Friday, March 8.    The third-annual gala will occur at the Kalahari Resorts and Conventions in Round Rock from 5:30-10 p.m., according to a press release sent from CASA.

Austin Lacrosse company donates to local teams

Father, coach and founder of Austin-based company Phantom Lacrosse, Michael Hazy, strung 115 new lacrosse heads to celebrate the return of lacrosse to the Olympics after 115 years. Phantom is donating all 115 of them to youth lacrosse teams in Texas, including Williamson County.
