Georgetown set for Red Poppy Festival this weekend

Streets around downtown will be closed in the lead up to the Red Poppy Festival that will take place April 26-28.  The festival will have market vendors, food, activities and stage acts for the entire family in downtown Georgetown.

“Development has not slowed down,” demographer Bob Templeton told Georgetown ISD trustees April 15. “Despite high interest rates, the housing market here is doing well.” Because of area growth and development, GISD is expected to add 500 new students next school year.

Williamson County Commissioners Court heard their monthly construction update April 16. All projects are part of the county’s road bond program.   Robert Daigh, senior director of infrastructure, presented the updates on the road construction projects throughout the county by precinct.

New road paves way for G’town commercial park

Verde Vista Drive has been connected to Williams Drive as of April 12 with a new traffic light. The light helps connect Williams Drive to the Verde Vista Commercial Park, which is located at 4795 Williams Drive. The total acreage of the commercial park is 24 acres.
