Future Georgetown ISD trustee Anthony Blankenship says his goal is unity

Anthony Blankenship — an author, medical professional, Army veteran and Georgetown parent — will take a seat on the GISD Board of Trustees in May.  Mr. Blankenship is running unopposed for Place 5 in the May 6 election. The position is being vacated by three-term trustee Melanie Connor.

This year’s Amplify Austin efforts have closed. Williamson County nonprofits were some of the most supported in the fundraising effort.

Williamson County and the City of Georgetown celebrate their 175th birthday this weekend, with a two-day event March 10-11.  On Friday, March 10, a formal kick off ceremony will be held on the east side of the historic courthouse starting at 2 p.m.

Community dedicates park bench to ‘superhero’ DJ Pruitt

Family and friends celebrated the short life of “DJ” Pruitt, a little boy who “brought out in us the strength of unconditional love,” as they dedicated a park bench in his honor on February 26.

Costco Wholesale teases June opening in Georgetown

Georgetown’s very own Costco Wholesale should be operating by June of this year, according to the company’s website. The update is found on the “New Locations Coming Soon” page of the company website.

Georgetown ISD lifts curtain on new Strategic Direction Plan at 2023 State of the District

Calling Georgetown ISD’s in-the-works Strategic Direction Plan the “most important work the district has ever done,” Superintendent Fred Brent lifted the curtain just a little during his 2023 State of the District Address on Thursday, March 2.
