Williamson County road bond projects over budget by more than $100 million

Due in part to rising construction costs and inflation, Williamson County is facing a funding gap of more than $100 million to complete projects outlined in the 2019 road bond package, according to Precinct 2 Commissioner Cynthia Long.

New BiG residential community takes shape in Weir

Construction is underway at Grace Place, the new residential community that will serve Brookwood in Georgetown.  BiG is a nonprofit vocational community where adults with special needs learn to become artisans, bakers, card makers, jewelry makers and more.

Taylor drums up excitement with Percussion Park

Make music in the park with Taylor’s new Percussion Park. The city is celebrating the opening of its new and interactive playground — located between the lake and the swimming pool in Murphy Park, 1600 Veterans Drive — with a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 18.

Troubadour Festival moseys out of Georgetown

After its Georgetown debut last year, the Troubadour Festival will not make its way back to the city this year.  A combination barbecue and music festival, the Troubadour Festival had its inaugural event in Celina in 2021.

Doug Benold, ‘Dean of Georgetown Physicians’ dies at 98

During a long and prolific life spanning almost a century, Dr. Douglas M. Benold helped found Georgetown Hospital, start a community clinic for the underserved and integrate Georgetown public schools. Dr. Benold died Wednesday, February 15, at age 98, following a stroke.

Kiwanis Club of Sun City holds Pancake Breakfast for Key Club

New laser surgery now offered at St. David’s as enlarged prostate treatment

A specialized laser procedure for men suffering from enlarged prostate complications is now offered at St. David’s Georgetown Hospital.  Prostates enlarge naturally over time, causing symptoms including difficulty urinating, a weak stream and leakage.
