Florence terminates lieutenant, strips police chief of spending power

In a five-hour-long special city council meeting, Florence officials fired Florence Police Department Lieutenant David Guthrie on Tuesday, January 20, and disciplined Chief Wayne Thompson for what the city administrator said was a misuse of city funds.

Georgetown takes to Square to protest administration

A little more than 50 residents marched around the Square Tuesday afternoon as part of a “National Walkout” protest, marking the one-year anniversary of President Donald Trump’s second term.

New 85-acre subdivision in north Georgetown has eight housing options

Georgetown City Council unanimously approved the rezoning of approximately 85 acres from agricultural to a Planned Unit Development with base zonings of low-density multi-family and general commercial, bringing up to 425 units with a minimum of three different housing styles.

County Briefs: Justice Complex Project open house on the way

Williamson County will hold a public information session about the Justice Complex Project on Tuesday, March 3 at the EMS North Campus, 3189 S.E. Inner Loop, in Georgetown, from 5-7 p.m. The meeting is a come-and-go event with no formal presentation.

Cops vs. Grannies: Texas Fire Ants face Georgetown Police in charity game

The Texas Fire Ants, a Granny Basketball team, played a charity game against the Georgetown Police Department at East View High School on Saturday, January 17.  The game, won by the Fire Ants with a final score of 55-47,  benefited the Carver Center for Families.
