Williamson County extends ice storm Disaster Declaration

Williamson County again extended its local disaster declaration made following the ice storm on January 31 as restoration and recovery efforts continue.  The initial declaration was extended until March 9. It was lengthened Tuesday by an additional 90 days to June 5.

The Kiwanis Club of Sun City Georgetown is hosting a garage sale to benefit their programs for high school students April 1.  The event takes place from 8 a.m. to noon in the Sun City Social Center parking lot, 2 Texas Drive. Admission and parking are free.

District 5 town hall set for March 30 in Georgetown

Georgetown’s District 5 Council Member and Mayor Pro Tem Kevin Pitts is hosting a town hall for constituents and all interested city residents.  The event is at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 30, in the Heritage Oaks Community Center, 4611 Verde Vista.

Williamson County Courthouse is candle on the cake for county

Williamson County will celebrate its 175th birthday this weekend. Few things represent the county more than its historic courthouse in downtown Georgetown.  The building — technically the fifth courthouse built in the county — now houses commissioners court along with county offices.
