Kathryn Geddis Krause
Kathryn Geddis Krause of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on July 19, 2023. She was born on June 16, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan to Clara and Garfield Geddis. She lived in Saline, Michigan with her husband, Jack, and retired to Georgetown, Texas in 2000.
Kathy graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education. She received a Masters Degree as a Reading Specialist and a Masters Degree in Education Administration. She was known as a dedicated and creative educator and a lifetime learner. Kathy dedicated 31 years of outstanding service to the Lincoln Consolidated Schools in Ypsilanti, Michigan serving as classroom teacher, building principal, mentor and friend to staff, students and parents. The plaque on the Kathryn Geddis Professional Library reads, “ Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you’ve imagined” Henry David Thoreau
Throughout her retirement years she continued to meet the needs of others. Philanthropic activities included being Past President of Seeds of Strength and for many years was very active in the Georgetown Assistance League.
Gardening and flower arranging along with decorating for all the holidays were some of her favorite hobbies. She had a special interest in the Georgetown Palace Theater and a passion for the visual arts.
Kathy is survived by her sister, Joanne G. Morningstar and husband Dain of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, and her brother, John G. Geddis and wife Gretchen of Lovell, Maine, as well as nephews David and William Geddis and their wives and 5 great nephews.
