Barbara Alleen Ginn
With Great Sadness we announce that Barbara Alleen Ginn, faithful wife and loving mother, 84, of Georgetown, Texas, went to be with the lord on the evening of July 23, 2023.
Barbara Alleen Morrow was born to Rufus and Lara Morrow in the coal mining town of Lynch, Kentucky on May 25, 1939. She was the youngest of four siblings. Her father moved the family to Birmingham, Alabama, when she was little and then to Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where her father gained employment working on the Manhattan Project.
She met the love of her life in Oak Ridge at the age of 16 when their church rearranged the seating and he accidentally sat next to her in the choir. She became Barbara Alleen Ginn when she married O.H. Ginn Jr. on September 20, 1958, shortly after he joined the United States Air Force, and began a life’s journey of 64 years and 10 months.
Over the next 20 years they had many adventures together. She followed her husband to every duty assignment the Air Force would allow. They traveled and lived across the United States along with a 4-year assignment in England (which she really loved) and eventually landed in Austin, Texas, where he retired from the Air Force in 1977. They moved to Georgetown, Texas in 1980, and spent the next 43 years building a life here.
In 1981, she began working for the Williamson County Sun newspaper. She studied accounting at home in the evenings and eventually became the bookkeeper for the paper. A position she continued to hold until her retirement several years ago.
She was a bit of an artist. She worked in several ceramic shops over those first 20 years making and painting various figurines, some of which can be found throughout her home. She also enjoyed oil painting on canvas as a hobby.
She made many friends and touched many lives, and you would be hard pressed to find someone who would speak ill of her. She was kind, patient, and disciplined, and she always seemed to know when to apply those traits.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Lara Morrow, brother David Lester Morrow, brother Bobby Morrow and his wife Barbara, sister Lorene Sanders and her husband Cliff, and Great Granddaughter Crystle Brooke Feldner.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years O.H. Ginn Jr., son and daughter-in-law David and Ann Ginn, daughter Kathryn Ginn, son and daughter-in-law Randall and Adria Ginn, grandchildren Lyndsey King and husband Darren Banach, Carrie Wood, Ryan Wood and wife Kimi Wood, Cody Klaproth, David Ginn Jr., and great grandson H Bradley Wood.
Barbara Alleen Ginn, wife and mother, was laid to rest in Georgetown, Texas on Friday, July 28, 2023. She will be dearly missed.
