Williamson County Commissioners Court approves ARPA Funding
Williamson County Commissioners Court approved federal American Rescue Plan Act Funding for several infrastructure projects to help cities within the county.
For the City of Taylor, the grant will provide construction improvements to the centralized wastewater system, according to the contract submitted to the court. The county will fund two million dollars to the project.
The City of Coupland received a $39,000 grant for “the maintenance and repair of wastewater collection and process system to ensure reliable consistent wastewater treatment to the residents of the Coupland Water Supply Corporation,” according to the contract. The corporation previously received two other agreements. On May 24 they were allotted $500,000. The new contract totals $137,000.
ARPA is a federal relief program that helps “equitable economic recovery” to communities after the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the White House factsheet.
“For any other elected official here, we are so proud of what you're doing in your [communities],” County Judge Bill Gravel said during the meeting. “Thank you city leaders for leading.”
