Preservation through recreation: Developer works to preserve history of downtown Taylor while offering residents something new

Architect and development partner Doug Moss grew up in Taylor when it was a walkable small town. Back when he attended Old Taylor High, he would stroll from school downtown to work at his family’s hardware store, Moss True Value.

Around Wilco: Round Rock celebrates Rock’N River

Round Rock water parkThe City of Round Rock celebrated the completion of the Rock’N River Phase 3 Expansion Project on May 22 at 3300 East Palm Valley Boulevard. The project includes a 775-foot action river with two wave features: a typhoon wave generator and a barrel roll wave generator.
Senior Living residents fished for 600 pounds of Channel Catfish during the two-day event which continued on Friday.  Residents and staff were treated to a fish fry to celebrate the event.  The fish were provided by Larry’s Fish Farm in Giddings.   Photo by Andy Sharp.

The 23rd Annual SPJST Senior Living Fishing Tournament took place Thursday, May 7, 2026. Senior Living residents fished for 600 pounds of Channel Catfish during the two-day event, which continued on Friday.  Residents and staff were treated to a fish fry to celebrate the event.

Heritage Farm Day in East Williamson County

Heritage Farm Day, held at the 125-year-old Lutonsky Farm on Saturday, November 15, 2025, was hosted by the Greater Taylor Foundation Food Insecurity Council.   Among the activities were antique tractors, hay rides, tours of the Lutonsky home, games, pony rides, and  a petting zoo.
