Dorothy Vivian Tipton, age 93, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, in Austin, Texas. She was born August 7, 1930, to parents, Robert J. Ryan and Bettie Stanfield Ryan in Crockett. Dorothy had a successful career at Baker Oil Tools in Houston, followed by a stint raising son, Jim, and then held numerous office manager roles before joining husband Charles to travel and explore. Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother and aunt who lived to serve others, take care of people, make sure you ate, and bake things for everyone.
Dorothy is survived by son, Jim, and son-in-law, Michael of Austin; sister, Bonnie Grant of The Woodlands; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 72 years, Charles Tipton; parents, Robert and Bettie Ryan; stepfather, Lang Barnes; and brothers, Gordon and Clifford Barnes.
Funeral services for Dorothy Vivian Tipton will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with The Reverend Jim Tom Ainsworth officiating. Interment to follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. prior to the service at Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.
