Kathryn Mary (Ham) Walker
Kathryn Mary (Ham) Walker
Kathryn Mary (Ham) Walker of Georgetown, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023, at age 85. Kathy grew up in Washington, Indiana, and graduated with the Washington High School class of 1955.
She will be remembered for being the life of every party, always with a big smile, lively conversation and a drink in her hand. She made friends easily everywhere she went.
Kathy began her long career as a secretary in St. Louis, and worked for a variety of businesses in Chicago, Houston and Austin, as well. She met and married John Ice while living in Chicago, then moved to Houston where they raised two daughters and filled their summers camping and water skiing.
She loved live music and went to see Neil Diamond every chance she got. She and George Walker fell in love dancing to their favorite country music and married in 1998. She loved boating and spent many years living on Lake LBJ together with George. They have been residents of Sun City, Texas, since 2014.
Kathy is preceded in death by her sister Bobbe McCracken. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, George Walker, her two daughters, Karen Baker of Houston, and Susan (Scott) MacCall of Bozeman, Montana, and her sister Pat Ek of Austin. She also has several grandchildren Kasey Baker, Kelly Baker and Randy Baker, all of Houston, Madison Hemphill of Taylor, Texas, and Matthew Hemphill of Pflugerville, Texas, one great grandchild Hunter, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 20, in Sun City. Wherever you are, please make a toast to her full, long life with a glass of wine or peppermint Schnapps.
