Ophelia Rowland Ontiveros
(1937-2024) Ophelia Rowland Ontiveros, beloved mother to six children, 86 years old, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away in the company of her family on Friday, May 10th, 2024, leaving a void her family cannot fill.
She was born in Georgetown in 1937 to Seferina Garza and Richard Rowland (both deceased).
Ophelia was a devoted mother to six children, Robert Barrera, Norma B. Perales (Ruben U. Perales), Anthony Barrera, Michael Johnson, Nelda B. Valenzuela (Donald Valenzuela), Guadalupe O. Hernandez (Gilbert ‘Gilly’ Hernandez). She always said their birth changed her life for the better, and they felt that in the love and support she provided.
Ophelia took special joy in caring for others and had fond memories of her grandmother Louisa Garza and her aunt Florence Garza, who raised her.
Ophelia was preceded in death by her three sisters, Delia G. Gutierrez, Mary Lou G. Rose, Liz Ochoa, her son, Michael Johnson, and is survived by five of her children, eleven grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren, her seven brothers and sisters, Ben Gonzalez Jr., Frank Gonzalez, Richard Rowland, Paul Rowland, Nate Rowland, Nancy Burns and Joyce Powell, and numerous nieces and nephews who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 11 a.m. at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North Interstate 35, Georgetown, Texas.
