Robert (Bob) Ray McKinney

Robert (Bob) Ray McKinney, age 93, was born on September 16, 1930, to Bruno Durst McKinney and Louise Arrington McKinney in Bay City, Matagorda, Texas. He peacefully went to be with his Heavenly Father on July 14, 2024, in Georgetown, Texas.

Robert lived his childhood years in Sweeney and Abilene, Texas and graduated from Abilene Christian High School in 1948. He was very athletic and played basketball and softball through- out high school and college. After high school, Robert entered Abilene Christian College and attended two years before entering the United States Navy in 1950. Robert served for almost four years during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. He then returned to Abilene Christian College in 1954 to finish his bachelor of science degree in 1956.

Robert lived his early years in Corsicana, then moved to the Central Texas area, where he lived most of his life and worked for the State of Texas in Austin. He enjoyed golfing, sports and attending church services and activities at Salado and Georgetown Churches of Christ, but mainly enjoyed spending time with his wife Patsy, along with family and friends.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Christi Tekell; stepdaughter, Belinda Anthens and her husband Les Herrington; grandchildren, Natalie Rokovich and her husband Chad Rokovich; Tyler Tekell; Ashley Parker and her husband Mason Parker and their children; and great- granddaughter, Reese Rokovich. Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy McKinney; stepdaughter, LaDonna Donelson; son-in-law, Craig Tekell; Robert’s parents, Bruno and Louise McKinney; and siblings, James and John McKinney and Betty Hejl.

Robert’s graveside service will be on Saturday, July 27 at 11 a.m., in Troup, Texas, at Pinecrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Lifeline Chaplaincy or Alzheimer’s Association.
