Eloise (Scott) Speed Norton, age 97, passed away due to natural causes on September 8, 2024, in Georgetown, Texas. Born on August 14, 1927, in West Point, Mississippi, Eloise was a beacon of intelligence, care and love throughout her life.
Eloise graduated from Starkville Ms. High School, furthered her education at Mississippi State College for Women in Columbus, Mississippi. and graduate studies at Louisiana State University, Oklahoma State University and Mississippi State University, where she nurtured her passion for literature and learning. She dedicated her career to education, first as a school librarian and later as a college professor, enriching the minds and hearts of countless students.
She is survived by her loving children, Terry Norton, Robyn Norton Meier and Andy Norton, son-in law Tom Meier., daughter-in-law Angela Norton and granddaughters Jessica Adams, Paloma Norton and Andrea Norton. Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, Robert M. Speed and Earline C. Speed, her sister, Francis S. Kassees and her brother, Robert M. Speed Jr.
