James “Jim” William Burnop
James “Jim” William Burnop was called to his heavenly home on November 3, 2024 at the age of 74. He was a loving brother, husband, father, and grandfather. Jim was always smiling, and he was kind and gentle to everyone around him.
Jim was born on July 12, 1950 in Tyler, Texas, to Robert Wayne Burnop and Shirley May Luebke Burnop. On May 9, 1970, Jim married the love of his life Kathleen Ann Sander. They settled in Georgetown, Texas, in 1992. He is survived by his children, Scott Alan Burnop and wife Audrey Rae Benitz and Alison Elaine Jalufka and husband Brian Scott. He has three grandchildren, Caleb Henry Jalufka, Daniel James Jalufka, and Elliott Grace Jalufka, two brothers, Wayne Burnop and Tommy Burnop and wife Sandra, and his dog Lucy.
Jim was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served in the Air Force as a crew chief of a C-130 from 1969-1972. After being discharged from the army, Jim attended Tyler Junior College and became a mechanical architect.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife Kathleen Burnop, his parents Robert Burnop and Shirley Luebke Burnop, his sister Sharon Lee Gilchrist, and his sister-in-law Nancy Jane Burnop. Services will be at Mission Liberty Hill Lutheran Church on November 9 at 2 p.m. Visitation will start at 1 p.m. before the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be given to the Mission Liberty Hill Building Fund.
