Ray Nicholas Cook, Jr.
Ray Nicholas Cook, Jr. passed away on October 29, 2024, at the age of 86. Ray was born on August 23, 1937, in Laurens, South Carolina, to Ray Cook, Sr. and Ruby Brown Cook.
Ray served in the Air Force for 20 years. During his career he was stationed in Newfoundland where he met and married his wife Christine Strong. He was also stationed in North Carolina, Vietnam, Germany, several other locations, and Texas where he retired. He enjoyed traveling with his family wherever he lived. Ray enjoyed woodworking and built many items for his family. He loved his four grandchildren and spent many hours at their various activities.
Ray is survived by: his wife, Christine Cook; daughter Mitzi Gearhart and husband Terry; son Jody Cook and wife Mary; grandchildren, Jason Cook, Matthew Gearhart and wife Caryn, Julie Owens and husband Kendon, and Sarah Hamilton and husband Benjamin; sister Betty Cox and husband Lewis, brother-in-law Woody Lathrop; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Ruby Cook and his sister Nancy Lathrop.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 11, from 6-8 p.m. at Ramsey Funeral Home, located at 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas, 78633. There will be a funeral service on November 12 at 1 p.m. at Ramsey Funeral home followed by a 3 p.m. burial at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, located at 11463 TX-195, Killeen, Texas 76542.
