The Reverend Dr. Linda Margaret Watkins

The Reverend Dr. Linda Margaret Watkins was born February 27,1940, in Houston, Texas, to Walter “Pruett” Watkins, MD and Iantha “Maxine” Moses. She passed away November 2, 2024, at The Wesleyan Memory Care in Georgetown, Texas.

She grew up in Luling, Texas. Married James Otis “Smitty” Smith, 1958 (Div.1978).

Her career highlights include: Top agent in sales and management of real estate, minister, counselor, teacher, group and retreat leader, hypnotherapist, spiritual director.

Her greatest achievements include: BA in Biology from UT Austin at age 19; Doctorate of Ministry, Perkins School of Theology; Graduate studies at Carl Jung Institute, Switzerland; Founder of the Women’s Center FUMC, Richardson; Leadership in courses for women; Served as Minister in churches in the Dallas area and Georgetown; Board of Directors for Women’s Spiritual Center, Santa Fe; Founder/Leader for Senior University Georgetown; Leader of writing groups for women and publications of their stories.

Her favorite activities include: travel, reading, writing, education, leading women’s groups, genealogy.

Her favorite thing was being a Grandma!

She is survived by her children, Cheryl Lyn Young and Jim Pruett Smith, her grandchildren, Dillon James Young, Tyler Joseph Young, Trinity Mae Smith, Ashley Lyn Jules Smith and half-sister Carolyn Pecht. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Madeline Maxine Westbrook.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Wesleyan Memory Care and Suncrest Hospice for their loving care of our beloved mother/grandma.

Celebration of her life will be held November 23, 2024, 11 a.m., Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas.
