Quincy Lee Byrd, Jr.
Quincy Lee Byrd, Jr.
Quincy Lee Byrd, Jr., passed from this world to the next on December 1 surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. He joins his mother Marie, his father Quincy Sr., and his brother Bobby Clay, in eternal rest. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gwendolyn, his daughter, Dusty and her husband, Ricky, and his son Bobby and his wife, Darlene. He is also survived by his brother Don and his partner Diana, as well as his nieces, Angela, and Virginia. He was proud to be Pigpa to his grandchildren, Amanda, Kelly, Deborah, Noach, Johnathan, Benjamin and Caz and great granddaughter, Nora.
Quincy’s calm, gentle presence made a lasting impact on so many. He will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know him as one of the kindest, most compassionate, and caring people they have ever known. Those closest to him will be forever grateful for how he steadily showed up for us with unconditional acceptance.
A man of few words but great deeds spoke volumes as to his character. Working with young people through FFA and 4-H brought Quincy fulfillment and peace, while also instilling in his children and grandchildren the value of caring for all creatures great and small.
The mighty oak of his family, whom all could depend on for support and protection in the fiercest storms of life. May we all follow his lead and enjoy the simple pleasures of our lives.
There will not be a memorial service. If you would like to donate in Quincy’s memory, the family suggests these organizations:
Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation or to the American Cancer Society.
