Karen Kennedy
Karen Kennedy, 85, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away after a brief illness on December 11, 2024.
Karen was born and raised in Buffalo, New York, to Anna and Clyde Phillips. She spent many years living in Angola, New York and visiting relatives regularly in Central Pennsylvania, where her parents were from. Karen also resided in Kerrville, Texas, for 17 years prior to moving to Georgetown.
Karen is survived by her husband of over 63 years, William (Bill) of Georgetown, Texas, and her daughters Anne of Georgetown, Texas, and Ginny of San Lorenzo, California, as well as her nieces Susan Micholas of Cheektowaga, New York, and Sharon DiTondo of Rochester, New York. She was preceded in death by her daughter Barbara Lynn and her sister Mary Knoll of Tonawanda, New York.
Karen held a variety of secretarial roles while raising her daughters, including the Erie County (New York) Health Department, and the First Church of Evans. During retirement she and Bill volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the community food bank in Kerrville, Texas for many years. She was a faithful Christian, dedicated to bible studies and a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Georgetown.
Karen was very creative and had a terrific sense of humor; she was an avid quilter and gifted many quilts to family members and new babies as well as to the Project Linus Quilt Program, which provides quilts to seriously ill children and the Lutheran World Relief Quilt Ministry, which sends quilts to refugees and other in need all over the world. She was also a watercolor artist and had a large collection of bells. She was an animal lover, especially of dogs and birds.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider making a donation in her honor to your local food bank.
