Sandy G. Barr of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on October 23, 2024, at the age of 72 at the Austin Hospice Christopher House after battling cancer for many months. She is now in the loving arms of her Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ!
Sandy was born on March 25, 1952 in Dallas, Texas, to Bruner Allen Grainger and Clair Mae Ables where she grew up on her father’s ranch. Sandy graduated from Memorial High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 22, 1970, subsequent to her father’s death, and later earned her associate’s degree.
Sandy was employed for a number of years with the Radian Corp. in Austin, Texas, and later went to work for IBM in Austin as a secretary for 11 years. Sandy’s son, Talon G. Lambeth, was born in Round Rock, Texas, on June 23, 1993 and spent his early years living in Liberty Hill, Texas, on 5 acres in the country.
Sandy had established a long-time friendship with Allen W. Barr, Il and they began dating each other in the late 1990s while Allen was employed at TxDOT as the Chief Fraud Investigator and as a Internal Audit Manager in Austin. Allen and Sandy were married on April 2, 1999, in Round Rock, Texas, and lived there until they sold their home and moved to Georgetown, Texas, in 2001. Sandy became employed as a secretary at the Sports Clips Headquarters for several years until she retired for health reasons.
Allen retired from TxDOT on November 30, 2017, and has served on the Williamson County Appraisal Review Board for the last five years. To Sandy’s great delight and pleasure, her only grandson, Walker Talon Lambeth, was born on Sandy’s birthday in 2020 at the Georgetown Hospital. Sandy was able to celebrate several birthdays with her grandson before her death.
A Memorial Service for Sandy Barr will be held at the Lawler Baptist Church, 151 County Road 230, Florence, Texas, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025.
