On Monday, December 23, 2024, Paul (Pablo) Martinez, loving brother and father of five children, passed away at age 86.
Paul was born in Florence, Texas, on May 22, 1938, to Gregorio and Luz Martinez. He served in the Military, Branch U.S. Navy. Retired butcher at HEB of 30 years. He was married to Grace Acevedo and had five children.
Paul had a passion for fishing, playing pool, poker and he loved to draw. In his early years, he raised birds, giving him the nickname “Bird Man.” He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He was always at family gatherings with new magic tricks and sharing a Tall Tale story.
Paul was preceded in death by his father Gregorio, his mother Luz Martinez, sister Lucy Guajardo, and nephews Gabriel and Tony Guajardo.
Paul is survived by his children, Vickie M. Patterson, Susie Arocha (husband Robert), Paul Gary Martinez (wife Melissa), Gilbert Martinez (wife Leslie) and Michelle Martinez.
His siblings, brother Joe Martinez (wife Becky), sisters Carolyn Garcia (husband Raymond), Susie Bracomontez (husband Gene), Celia Villarreal (husband Jerry), Linda Conde (husband Isidro), brother-in-law Paul Guajardo. Paul had 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Viewing will be held on Friday, January 10 at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, Georgetown, Texas from 6-8 p.m. Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral Service will be on Saturday, January 11 at 10 a.m. at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel. Burial will be held at Georgetown Memorial.
