Frances Jane, née Bradfield Wirth

On Valentine’s Day 2025, God chose Frances Jane Wirth, 87, to be a special Valentine. Born in Logansport, Indiana, March 13, 1937, to Thomas and Bess Bradfield, she spent her youth in Central Indiana and Decatur, Illinois, with half-brother James Gibson.

Graduating with the Decatur High School Class of 1955, Jane was best known as the drum majorette. She then earned a Bachelor’s at Eastern Illinois, a Master’s at Purdue and completed post  graduate studies at Indiana State and Wisconsin. Her career in  education began as a teacher in Decatur and Mount Prospect, Illinois. She then became a counselor at Eisenhower High School where she met Wallace Wirth, her husband of 58 years. From this union, the Wirth’s had two sons, Charles Wirth of Fenton, Michigan, and Todd Wirth and daughter-in-law, Fatimah Wirth of Georgetown, Texas.

Jane would spend the rest of her professional  life working as a school psychologist serving the needs of children in the Chicagoland area and Las Vegas, Nevada. Jane was a lifelong lover of literature, participating in and founding book  discussion groups, including “The Novel Bunch” in Sun City. She was a dance instructor and enjoyed sewing, beading and swimming. She was a member of AAUW, DAR and Sigma Kappa. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation for cancer research.
