Mary E. Juby

Mary E. Juby, AKA Nana Juby, passed away March 12, 2025, in Lampasas, Texas. She was born on November 1, 1927, in Georgetown, Texas, into a large family of ten siblings.  Her father, Jesse James Chambers, and wife, Annie Lee Teague Chambers, moved to Briggs to find work as a sharecropper. Mary attended Briggs High School during her sophomore and junior years but returned to Georgetown High School, where she graduated. While at Briggs, Mary met and later married her high school sweetheart, Neyron Juby, in July 1945.  Neyron brought his new bride home to the Juby ranch in Burnet County.

In 1957, Mary became a nurse at Shepperd Memorial Hospital.  She was a gifted and loyal nurse for 31 years. In 1991, she retired to spend more time with her husband and work on the ranch.  They were a devoted couple, where you saw one, the other was not far behind.  Neyron passed away in 1998, leaving her to continue ranching. Nothing brought more pleasure to her than riding over the land she called home.

Mary was a Christian, taught Sunday School, a loving wife of 53 years, a mother to two daughters, a grandmother to four wonderful grandchildren, and a great-grandmother to nine. She was a community servant and a volunteer with the Briggs Fire Department.  Spending time with family and making memories was her priority. She set the bar high for her family and led by example.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Neyron Juby; her parents, Jesse and Annie Chambers; eight of her siblings: Andrew, Calvin, J.W., Curtis, Cecil, Ruth Morris, Marjorie Brown, Laverne Kennett; and her loving son-in-law, Randy Clark. She is survived by her sister, Jane Adams (Maurice); her daughters, Judy Smith (Kenneth), Sherri Clark; her grandchildren, Chris Ford (Christie), Tracy Edmiston (Chip), Jayme Valles (Simon) and Travis Clark (Jeni); her great-grandchildren, Cami, Cason, Sailor and Sutton Ford, Shaylee Edmiston, Kenlee Turner, Emma, Hudson and Kennedy Clark and dear family friends, John and Marilyn Kinsey. She was surrounded in life by a host of friends and acquaintances.

Funeral services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel Lampasas on Tuesday, March 18, at 11 a.m., with visitation an hour prior.  Burial will follow at Watson Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Caety Edwards Scholarship Fund, 6835 CR 3010, Lampasas, Texas, 76550, or an organization of your choice.
