It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Maria Esperanza Cortinas, 84, on June 26, 2025, at St. David’s Hospital in Georgetown, Texas.
Maria was a woman of faith and love and cherished by all who knew her. Maria was a super mom, a loving wife of 63 years and a military wife of 21 years. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of family, friends and many more whose lives were touched by her warmth and genuine smile. She was taken too soon from us and, in our hearts, we know she is with loved ones and at peace with our heavenly father.
Maria is survived by her husband, SFC (Retired) Fredrico Cortinas, 84, and her children: Maria Preda, husband, Francesco; Elizabeth Gonzales, husband, Marshall; Fredrico Cortinas, Jr., wife, Behnaz Deghnani; and Kim Bowman, husband, Richard. Forever loved and remembered by her grandchildren: Alessandro and Bianca Preda; Christina Braniff, husband, Justin; Lee Gonzales and Brianne (girlfriend); Nicolás and Gabriel Bowman, and step grandchildren, Nikoo and Negeen Vafaee. She is survived by great-grandchildren: Christopher and Alyssa (girlfriend), Justin, Jr., Jacob, and Eric Braniff and, also survived by great-great-grandchildren John Wayne (JW) Rodriguez, Christian Braniff and Emily Raine Gonzales.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Amado and Benita Noreiga and four siblings. She was also preceded in death by her grandchildren, John Jeffrey (JR) Rodriguez and Federica Bowman.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. at 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas. Burial service is on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 Fort Hood Street, Killeen, Texas. Following burial services please join the family for refreshments and food at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1000 North College Street, Georgetown, Texas.
