John Isbell

John Isbell left his earthly home June 19, 2026.  He was born in 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Curtis and Maebell Isbell.  As a small child the family moved to Silsbee, Texas.

John attended the University of Texas in Austin, Texas and graduated with a degree in Journalism.  After college he held a variety of jobs throughout his career, working at KTBC television station as a reporter and cameraman where he met President Lyndon Johnson and Ladybird.  He later worked as assistant to Frank Dyson, Chief of Police of Austin.  The last 20 years of his career he worked for a software company where he rose to VP of Marketing and Sales.  All of his jobs enabled him to meet a variety of interesting people and he enjoyed the interaction and knowledge he gained working with these individuals.

John was a very intelligent person.  If he didn’t know how to do something he researched it until he did.  John loved life and wanted to experience all that he could.  He wanted to see what was around the corner or over the next hill.  He loved to read, plan trips, travel, the Texas Hill Country and to just talk to people.  We all will miss his sense of humor, his inquisitiveness and love

He is survived by his wife Sandy, brother in law Tony (AJ), nephew TJ (Marianna), wonderful cousins and many friends.  Memorial Services are planned for Saturday, August 1, 2026, 2pm at San Gabriel Presbyterian Church, 5404 Williams Dr., Georgetown Texas
