Georgetown doubles water capacity with completion of South Lake treatment plant
$272.4 million project was city’s largest capital investment to date

These water basins hold water in them as they move through the filtration process. The further down a basin is, the more the water has been filtered.
Georgetown officials celebrated the completion of the South Lake Water Treatment Plant on Tuesday, August 4, marking the end of the city’s largest capital improvement project to date and doubling the city's water treatment capacity by adding 44 million gallons per day to its water supply – more than double the amount needed to serve every single-family home in Georgetown.
