In Loving Memory of Our Anita “Sue” Green
With heavy hearts, we must announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Mom and Mamaw, Anita “Sue” Green on Sunday, July 26th in Colorado Springs.
Sue was born on August 31,1940 in Sadler, Texas, to Gertrude and Wilson “Blue” Jones. On June 29, 1957, Sue married the love of her life, Benjamin “Wayne” Green. After graduating from Sadler High School in 1958, Sue and Wayne started their family, with their daughters Deborah ”Debbie” Sue and Diane Anita.
The family relocated to Greenville and finally to Austin in 1976. Sue supported Wayne in his law enforcement career, while starting her own. With the expansion of computers in the 1970s, she began her career as a data entry specialist, then Computer Operations Supervisor while working on her Bachelor’s degree and raising her family. Graduating in 1990 from St. Edwards University, she continued her career at Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation retiring in 2002 as the Vice President of Technology.
Throughout her life, Sue was known for her generous heart, gentle spirit, and the way she supported those dear to her. Whether gathered around her kitchen table, sharing stories on the porch or supporting her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their activities, Sue created memories that will be treasured for generations.
Finding joy in bible study, bingo, and spending time with her daughter, grandkids, and great-grandkids, Sue was the heart of every gathering, the keeper of family traditions, unconditional love and stressed the importance of education while using her quiet strength to push her family to always do their best.
In 2013, Sue and Wayne moved to Rockport to enjoy the beach and fishing life while traveling to England, Scotland, Ireland, Cuba and Mexico. They relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2025 to be near their grandkids and great-grandkids where Sue loved watching them play and grow.
Sue is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Wayne Green, daughter Debbie Sue Green, her parents, WB and Gertrude Jones and siblings Hugh E Jones, Eva Jones Huge, Waymon Jones, Dennis Jones, and Margaret Jones Green.
Sue is survived by her daughter Diane and son-in-law Rob Harrell; granddaughter Sarah (Randall) Stewart and grandson Chase Keltgen; great grandsons Jack and Carter Stewart, all of Colorado Springs; and her brother-in-law Lavoy Green of Sachse, Texas.
