Bernice Ruth Arnold (formally Bernice Jenkins) passed away peacefully on October 23, 2023, at the age of 88. She was born on August 27, 1935, in Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of Reason and Cynthia (Boggs) Lyon and was the last of 12 children. Bernice was a graduate of the Baroness Erlanger Hospital School of Nursing in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she received a degree in nursing. She had lived in Georgetown since 1972. Bernice enjoyed sewing, reading, and was an active member and Sunday school teacher at Crestview Baptist Church. She worked for the Georgetown Independent School District as a vocational nurse teacher, school nurse and eventually the supervisor of GISD school nurses until her retirement. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Reason and Cynthia Lyon; her first husband, Jack Jenkins; their daughter, Cynthia Jenkins; her second husband, Rex Arnold and her 11 siblings. She is survived by her sons, Joe Jenkins and his children, Austin and Travis; Jay Jenkins (Tonya) and their children, Taylor, Regan and Micah; Cynthia’s daughter, Whitney Ramos (Alex); 4 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. on November 3 at the Cook Walden Davis Funeral Home at 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, TX 78628. Graveside service at 10 a.m., November 4, directed by Pastor Dan Wooldridge of Crestview Baptist Church at The International Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) Cemetery located behind Southwestern University.
