Carolyn Grace Junek

Carolyn Grace Junek, 85, of Georgetown, Texas, peacefully went to be with her Savior on February 6, 2025. Carolyn was born in Thorndale, Texas, and moved to San Antonio when she was young.

She attended Sam Houston High School, and obtained her B.S. degree from San Antonio Junior College. She completed her education with a Master’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Carolyn grew up attending the Christian church and loved singing hymns and being involved in church activities. She was very active in the churches she attended over the years. Under the tutelage of Father George Montegue, SM, she became Catholic and later entered a Convent of Marianist sisters in San Antonio. She taught Religion and Science at Ursuline Academy for five years until she left the convent. Later, she worked for the San Antonio Express News as supervisor of the Education department.

After retiring, she moved to Georgetown in 2002. Because of her love of cooking and her significant culinary skills, she went to work for Central Market in Austin, doing food demo’s. Carolyn expressed her caring for other people by cooking for them, and nothing made her happier than emerging from the kitchen with something new and delicious. Once in Georgetown, she attended St. Helen Catholic Church. She loved the Catholic Church and used her passion for cooking to work on the Bereavement Committee at the church, providing comfort and food for families and friends who had lost loved ones. Carolyn had many friends, and everyone she met was gifted with her sweet smile and kind words. She had a positive and generous soul, and a tender heart, and with those closest to her, she never failed to end the conversation with “I love you.”

Carolyn is preceded in death by her mother, Lois Echols, and her father William Daniel Junek; her brothers, William, Calvin, Harold, and Neil Junek, and by her sister, Gloria Rochester. She is survived by her sister, Janice Robbins, and three nieces, Debbie Ayers, Terry Hall and husband, Jack, and Andrea Tausch and husband, Travis. She also leaves behind her lifelong friends Betty Hattfield, of San Antonio, and Myrt King of Colombus, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at St. Helen Catholic Church, on Thursday at 10 a.m., February 20, 2025. A reception will be held following the services at the St. Rita Activity Center for anyone who would like to join. The burial will be held at the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, in San Antonio on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas, 78218.
