Catherine Slater Long of Georgetown,Texas passed away peacefully on February 21, 2024, surrounded by her children at the age of 93. She was born on August 6th, 1930 in Okarche, Oklahoma. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High in El Reno, Oklahoma. 

She was married to Lyndel Wayne Long of El Reno, Oklahoma at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Union City, Oklahoma on May 5, 1951.

Catherine took great pride in raising her five children as a stay at home mom. She served many years as PTA President at Shady Oaks Elementary in Hurst, Texas.

Catherine was always actively involved in her community. She was a member of the Altar Society at St. John’s Catholic Church in Richland Hills, Texas. She has been an active member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Georgetown, Texas for more than 40 years. At St. Helen’s she served many years on the Good Samaritan team, cooking and baking for funerals. 

She was active for 50 years in several bunco groups in every community that she lived in. In Georgetown she volunteered every Monday at Hand Crafts on the square for 28 years.

She spent her last year at Grand Living in Georgetown, where she enjoyed the good food and wonderful caregivers. 

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Lyndel Wayne Long in October of 2021. 

She is survived by her 5 children; Denise Conner (husband Paul Conner) of Hudson Oaks, Texas, Cathy Meyer (husband Ernest Meyer) of Burnet, Texas, Brenda Richards (husband Lee Richards) of Liberty Hill, Texas, Christy Holquin (husband David Holquin) of Coldspring, Texas, Tim Long (wife DeeDee Long) of Georgetown, Texas. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Michelle Meyer, Alyssa Burleson, Ashli Smick, Matt Meyer, Brandon Leath, Meagan Medina, Lindsey Wellman, Heather Bales, Morgan Wheat, Chelsea Cervera, Phillip Hurlbut, Amanda Brull, Austin Long, and Taylor Martin. She has enjoyed the births of more than 35 great grandchildren. 

The family would like to thank her team of caregivers at Grand Living, especially Mary Ann Mobley, her favorite, and Magnolia Hospice. 

Arrangements have been made through Ramsey Funeral Home with visitation Sunday, February 25th, 2024 from 4-6pm. 

Celebration of Life Mass is tentatively set for 10 a.m. Monday, February 26th, 2024 at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Georgetown, Texas.
