Charles Dean Higginbotham

CCharles Dean Higginbotham, beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather, public servant, and Santa Claus, passed away on May 15, 2026.  Dean was born on September 7, 1956, to Olan and Esta Higginbotham. His upbringing instilled strong Texas values and, most importantly, empathy. He was a graduate of Belton High School and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Dean married the love of his life, Glenda Moore. Together they built a home filled with love and laughter while raising their three children in Georgetown, Texas.

Dean dedicated his life to serving others, making the community a better and safer place for all. Through his work with Williamson County Juvenile Services and the Sheriff’s Office, he selflessly helped countless individuals and families until his retirement.

Dean was also known for another important role — Santa Claus. With his warm smile, familiar beard, and joyful spirit, he brought wonder and happiness to children and families over the years. He loved making people smile, feel welcomed, and believe in a little extra kindness during the holiday season.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Olan and Esta Higginbotham; his stepfather, William Warren; and his wife, Glenda Higginbotham.  He is survived by his wife, Elin Criswell Higginbotham; his brothers, Ronnie and Don Higginbotham; and his sister, Mary Dunlap.

He also leaves behind his children: son Benjamin Higginbotham, his wife Melissa, and their children Derek and Ava; daughter Megan Higginbotham and son Jared Higginbotham and his fiancée, Janiece Attal.

Dean is also lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and many lifelong friends whose lives were better for having known him.

His Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7th, at The Grove Church, 23911 Ronald Reagan Blvd, Liberty Hill, TX 78642. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Williamson County Brown Santa, 508 S. Rock Street, Georgetown, Texas 78626.
