Clifton Ross Sumner Jr. was born on July 7, 1942 in Richmond, Virginia to Clifton Ross Sumner Sr. and Fannie Estelle Allen Sumner. He married Mollie Luker Harris December 22, 1999 in Liberty Hill, Texas at the First Baptist Church. Clifton was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the Army from 1967 - 1976. Clifton retired from Southwestern University in 2004 after 18 years of service.
Clif loved to play his harmonica at church and 5th Sunday singing and at the nursing homes.
Clifton passed on August 25, 2026, at the age of 84 at Will-O-Bell Nursing Home in Bartlett, Texas.
Clifton is survived by his wife Mollie, his sister Barbara Jean Hughes, her husband Warren Hughes, and their children.
