Densel Randolph Gilpin

Densel Randolph Gilpin passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026 in Temple, Texas. He was 92 years old. 

Born in Iola, TX on January 14, 1934, to Clara Theo Wells Gilpin and Lyles McKinley Gilpin. Densel graduated from Jeff Davis High School in Houston, Texas. 

Densel served his country in the U.S. Army. Later he worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad where he sold railroad services while in Houston, Corpus Christi and San Antonio. 

Densel enjoyed his family, friends and community.

His hobbies included golfing, bowling, and dancing  in Sun City, Georgetown. Densel had numerous friends and acquaintances. He enjoyed his ranch life in Goliad, Texas and relocated to Sun City in 2006.

Densel was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rhoda Gilpin, and his son David Carroll Gilpin.  

He is survived and will be missed by his family members who include his step-daughter Lisa Layne (husband Chuck), step-granddaughter, Hayley Snider, his sisters Bobbie Adams, Shirley Gage, Pam Finley (husband Bob), brothers Fred Ira Gilpin (wife Elida), and Jerry Lynn Gilpin (wife Nancy), numerous nieces and nephews, and his most special friend Sue Baucom. 

The family will hold a private graveside service at Zion Cemetery in Iola, TX at a time and date not yet determined.
