Donald Hugh Padfield

Donald Hugh Padfield died peacefully at the age of 86 at his residence in Georgetown, Texas. Don was born in Des Moines, Iowa to W.C. “Pad” and Ruth Padfield who moved to Houston, Texas, in Don’s early years. 

Don graduated from Lamar High School and The University of Houston with a B.S. in chemical engineering. Don always worked - paper route, grocery store and finally Champion International Paper Company. 

Don met and married Adrienne Flynn during college. Don loved all Houston sports: Cougars, Astros, Oilers, Rockets and Aeros. At Champion he advanced to Pulp Mill Manager, then head of Environmental Affairs. Don and Adrienne retired to Georgetown in 2001. 

They traveled and found joy in their three grandchildren. Adrienne developed Alzheimer’s in 2015. Don’s love for Adrienne shone during the seven years he cared for her. Don moved to assisted living at Wesleyan where he continued to bring joy to those around him.

Don is survived by his son, Alan Padfield, his daughter, Kathryn Baffes, his son-in- law, Paul Baffes, his grandchildren, Russell Padfield, Vivian Baffes, and Sophia Baffes and her husband, John Foster.

A memorial service honoring Don will be held at 4 p.m., February 16, 2024, at First United Methodist Church Georgetown, 410 East University Avenue, Georgetown, Texas 78626. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in honor of Don to First United

Methodist Church Georgetown, The Wesleyan, or charity of choice.
