Doris Jeanne Tyler
Doris Jeanne Tyler, aged 94, passed away on November 8, 2024. Born on July 25, 1930, Doris was known for her vibrant personality and her ability to make friends everywhere she went. Her life was marked by her devotion to her family and her passions, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Doris spent her career at Georgetown Hospital as an accountant and payroll officer, where she played a crucial role in transitioning the hospital’s financial records from paper to computer—a significant feat that required dedication and long hours. She retired after 30 years of service.
Doris enjoyed a range of hobbies that kept her busy and connected with others. She was an avid player of bridge and dominoes, and her skills in sewing, crocheting and knitting were nothing short of artistic. Doris also had a fondness for shopping, especially in quaint roadside antique shops, much to the chagrin of her husband who didn’t really share her shopping enthusiasm.
Doris’s family was central to her life. She is survived by her step-son, Dennis Tyler; daughters, Sona Holmstrom (Bert) and Desi McKinney (David); grandchildren, Livia McDonald, Amy Wood (Tom), Nolan Pressler (Tiffany), Erin Barnes (Bobby), Grant Almquist (Ami), and Bambi Stufin (Sean). Doris is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, Dylan McDonald, Dorianne McDonald, Avery Wood, Aaron Wood, Abby Wood, Jaiden Martinez, David Pressler, Matthew Pressler, Kennedy Pressler, Gavin Almquist, Nathan Almquist, Carli Almquist, Noah Barnes, Benjamin (Mariah) Steele, Cole Molyneux (Crystal), and Reese Molyneux. Doris is also survived by 4 great-great grandchildren, Charlotte Steele, Josephine Steele, Waylon Molyneux, and Rowan Molyneux. Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Lawrence Tyler; her parents, Roy and Victoria Terry; her brother, Charles Terry; step-son, Ron Tyler; son, Douglas Tyler; grandchildren, Shelly Kramer, Robin Tyler, Darrell McDonald; and great-grandchildren, Island Kramer, Morgan Steele.
Contributions in memory of Doris may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Her spirit and memory will live on through the many lives she touched and the contributions made in her honor.
