Emma Gean (Choate) Dossey

Emma Gean (Choate) Dossey passed away peacefully on October 23, 2023. She was born on September 5, 1937, in Port Neches, Texas. She was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, Texas in 1956 and then attended Port Arthur Business College and Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Growing up she was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Port Arthur.

She was employed by Merchants National Bank (Port Arthur) from 1957-1961. She was a homemaker from 1961-1979. She then returned to banking in 1979 at Nederland State Bank in Nederland, Texas, and retired December 31, 1992, as Administrative Assistant to the CFO.

She married Don E. Dossey in September 1980 (until his death last year - 42 years together) and when Don retired from teaching at Port Neches - Groves High School they moved from Port Neches to Sun City (Georgetown, Texas) in August 2000. She was a member of Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don Dossey; her father, Reynold Choate; her mother, Annie Breaux; son Kevin Brent Jordan; one step-son, Steve Dossey; step-daughter, Caye Dossey Mahana; sister, Eva Mae Gilson; brother-in-law, Claude Gilson; and brother, Pat Choate.

She is survived by two sons: Jeff Jordan and wife Jennifer of Austin, and Brian (Peanut) Jordan of Georgetown; four grandchildren: Brianna Jordan of Georgetown, Jessica Jordan of Corpus Christi, Julie and Jenna Jordan of Austin; one step-grandson, DJ Mahana; and two great-grandchildren.

She was the heart and soul of our family, the glue that bound us all. Her loss is immense however we are comforted to know she is at peace and rejoicing with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

A private family burial will be held at Liberty Hill Cemetery with Pastor Dan Wooldridge officiating.
