Esther Vasquez Zavala

Esther Vasquez Zavala

Esther Vasquez Zavala passed away peacefully in her home in Georgetown, Texas, on January 29, 2025 at 89 years old.

Esther was born August 10, 1935, in Houston, Texas, to Cecilio Vasquez and Paulina Martinez.  She moved to Georgetown, Texas, when she was 8 years old, and at 18 years old, on May 10, 1954, Esther married the love of her life, Larry Zavala. Esther and Larry celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in May 2024. Esther and Larry raised five children in Georgetown, Texas, and, over the years, continued to welcome grandchildren and great-grandchildren to their loving home.

Esther was a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan, a lover of good music and a cherished friend.  She was always ready to hop in the car and head to the coast, and loved being by the water.  But her great love was spending time with family.  She welcomed her family and friends with open arms at every opportunity, making sure everyone who entered her home knew they were welcome to have a good meal, good company, and stay as long as they liked.

Esther is survived by her husband: Larry Zavala; her five children: Debbie Zavala, Andrew Zavala (Rita Zavala), Terry Zavala, Kathy Labenski, and Gregory Zavala (Stacey Zavala); her grandchildren: Jacob Ramos, Edward King, Megan Zavala, Alan Zavala, Chase Labenski (Stephanie Labenski), Alexis Ramon (fiance Kaden Harris), Gregory Zavala (Myranda Zavala), Logan Zavala, and Lauren Zavala; her great-grandchildren: Jacob King, Jaydn King, Reece King, Taylor Ramirez, Noah Ramirez, Peyton Labenski, Emmie Labenski, and Parker Labenski; her brother: Danny Vasquez; and many nieces and nephews whom she treasured.  The family would like to give special thanks to Dee Dee Sanchez, who was not only a niece to Esther, but a loving friend.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents and seven of her siblings.

A memorial service for Esther will be held Friday, February 7, 2025, from 2-3 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Dr, Georgetown, Texas 78628.
