Gregory Allen Mihailoff, age 80, of Leesburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026.
Born August 17, 1945, in Mansfield, Ohio, to Pete and Margaret Mihailoff, Greg developed early loves for the outdoors, golf, and lifelong learning. He earned his PhD from The Ohio State University and devoted his career to teaching neuroanatomy to medical students, earning multiple Professor of the Year honors at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas.
An avid golfer and devoted Formula 1 fan, Greg never missed a race and rewatched them with curiosity and enthusiasm, though his favorite role was being “Pop” to his grandchildren.
Greg is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rita; his children and their spouses; and his five grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
