Janice Louise (Brown) Perry-Rhys

Janice Louise (Brown) Perry-Rhys was foremost a mom who loved her family and friends fiercely. She was born in Flint, Michigan, to Betty and Bennie Brown. She had a delightful sense of humor and an unfortunate love of horrible puns. She left us on August 31, 2023, at age 78.

She married Gary MacKay in 1966, and shortly after came Monica, then Matthew (Matt), and a few years later, Melinda (Mindy). They left Flint and raised three kids in Pittsburgh, then Jacksonville, and finally settled in Georgetown. She moved to Fort Worth to be closer to her grandkids, and that’s where she lived the rest of her life.

She raised her children to think for themselves, to enjoy everything about life, and to treat people as they would like to be treated. She was the one yelling the loudest at her kids’ sports games. She would like you to know her Tarzan yell was legendary and that she could wiggle her ears.

She is survived by her daughter, Monica MacKay; her son Matt MacKay and his wife, Amy; and by daughter Melinda Nielsen and her husband Jens. She doted on her five grandchildren: Lauren, Joshua, Elisabeth, Abigail, and Gavin and two great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Willow.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Georgetown on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. A graveside blessing at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetary and Prayer Garden will be held on Saturday, November 4 at 10 a.m.
