Jerry Dwayne Overstreet

Jerry Dwayne Overstreet, 84, passed peacefully into his Savior’s arms on January 4, 2024. He spent many years working for building supply companies such as Furrows, Home Depot and places where he could share his knowledge with others. An avid lover of working with his hands, he enjoyed creating stained glass and leather art, fabricating and selling his wood and iron projects, as well as puzzles of every kind. He also spent time helping with the upkeep and maintenance at various churches the family attended.

As “Opa” to his grandchildren, he was always one to surprise them. After the first grandchild was born, he installed a swing set in the backyard. When they were old enough, next came the swimming pool. When the kids’ birthday parties included a huge inflatable waterslide, Opa went down it with them. He built several seat carts that he attached to the riding tractor and gave all the kids rides around the yard.

Preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Bernell Overstreet; brother Norman Overstreet, and grandson James Baggett.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Becky Overstreet; sons and favorite daughters-in-laws, Don and Laura Baggett, Hugh and Dawn Baggett; grandchildren Ashlyn, Joshua (wife Adriana), and Jacob Baggett. As well as children from his previous marriage, son Curtis Overstreet and daughter Christy Ray.

A memorial service will be held January 20, 11 a.m. at Community Bible Church of Weir, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name can be made to the Pregnancy Help Center of Georgetown or to the charity of your choice.
