Jerry Francis Snell
Jerry Francis Snell went home to be with his Lord and Savior on the morning of December 6, 2023, after a brief illness. Jerry died peacefully at home in Austin, Texas.
Jerry was born on October 17, 1934, in Jasper, Texas, and attended public school there. From 1952 to 1956, Jerry attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied mechanical engineering and earned a BBA.
Jerry served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959, achieving the rank of Specialist Five. During his Army career, Jerry was stationed at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, as an engineer in charge of Jupiter Start Systems.
After his military service, Jerry worked in industrial design, international sales and marketing for various machinery manufacturing companies, such as Lufkin Industries, Farrell Corporation, Allied Industries, Tex-Veyor and Texas Metal Casting Co.
Jerry married Deanna Boykin Snell in Lufkin, Texas, on June 1, 1957, and they had been married for 66 years when Jerry passed away. During their life together, Jerry and Dee lived in Lufkin, Huntsville, Chicago, Rochester, Houston, Georgetown and Austin. Dee and Jerry welcomed their first child, Ellen Rebecca, on December 12, 1964, in Rochester, New York. Their second daughter, Rachel Elizabeth, arrived in Houston, Texas, on March 24, 1967.
Throughout his life, Jerry was an avid hunter and firearms collector. He was also a loyal Longhorn and a Life Member of the Texas Exes.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Dee Snell of Austin; his daughter, Rachel Buie of Austin; his grandson, Austin Yates Adams of San Marcos; many relatives; and countless friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter, Ellen Adams; his parents, Oza and Albert Snell; and his twin brothers, Albert and John Snell.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2023, with a brief reception to follow. Instead of flowers, donations can be made to the Honor Flight Network or a charity of your choice.
