Joy Ellis Witteria
December 15, 1952 to September 4, 2024
Joy Wittera, beloved wife, sister, aunt and friend, died in the evening of September 4 at her home in Wier. The cause was hypertension. Joy graduated high school in Crockett and studied graphic design at Southwestern. It was in Georgetown that she met Larry Witteria. They had been married 42 years. Together they established East Sixth Street Relics and Antiques in Georgetown. With a widely varied inventory ranging from early surveying equipment, antique Valentines, notary seals, typewriters, metal toys and thousands of 45 records, it was truly not your grandmother’s antique shop.
Joy’s death leaves a gaping hole in the lives and hearts of her family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Virginia and H. G. Ellis, her son, Jason and her brother, Charles. Her survivors include her husband, Larry Wittera, brother Joe Ellis (Judy) Cedar Creek, sister Jackie Stewart, (Jack) Memphis, Tennessee, seven nieces and nephews, and 11 grand-nieces and nephews.
Those interested in honoring Joy’s memory, may do so by voting for Kamala Harris.
