Kenneth Edward Ruehl

January 18, 1946 – August 16, 2023: Ken was born to Edward and Margaret Ruehl in Cincinnati, Ohio. He received his BA in Physics at Murray State University and his MS in Computer Science at George Washington University. After serving in the Army, Ken spent his career as a software and systems engineer for various companies, retiring from Raytheon in 2006. 

Ken and Jane, his wife of 49 years, had two daughters, Jennifer and Alissa. He was a devoted father who was involved with their activities throughout the years, including skiing and swimming. He loved making them laugh and sharing his love of learning. 

During retirement in Sun City, Ken and Jane established many wonderful, lifelong friendships. Ken was a member of several clubs and was especially fond of his Senior University classes. They also traveled to many locations, near and far. His favorites were river cruises and anywhere they could travel with friends.

Ken is survived by his wife Jane, daughters Jennifer (Tate) Hemingson and Alissa (Zonk) Ruehl, granddaughters Ellie and Penny Hemingson and grandson Alexander Ruehl. He is also survived by his sister Debi (Mike) Dever. Ken was predeceased by his parents and brothers Donald and Terrence.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 28, at The Worship Place in Sun City. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to Ken’s Alma Mater, St. Xavier High School, Cincinnati, Ohio.
