In Loving Memory
(1938-2024)
Kenneth Emroy Olson
Kenneth Emroy Olson, 85, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024. Born on September 10, 1938, in Clifton, Texas, he was the son of the late Emroy and Lucille Olson. Ken, as he was affectionately known, was a man of integrity, humor and unwavering commitment to his family and community.
Growing up in Valley Mills and playing high school football, Ken was inducted into the All CenTex Football Hall of Fame, which led him to Baylor University until he was drafted during the Korean War draft.
On November 25, 1961, Ken married his college love, Judith Eloide Newsom. Together, they built a life characterized by devotion, shared joys, and steadfast partnership for nearly 64 years.
In 1969, they moved to Georgetown, Texas, where Ken bought into the family store, P&K True Value, and started a family.
Ken quickly became a prominent member of the Georgetown community. He served on the Georgetown City Council, was a director of the Chamber of Commerce, and served as president of the Optimist Club. He was also a dedicated coach and generous sponsor of a girls’ softball team.
Ken’s jovial nature and generosity made him a beloved figure in Georgetown. His 36-year presence (1969-2005) on the town square was as enduring as the friendships and memories he cultivated.
His life was characterized by his fun-loving spirit, surrounded by friends and family who cherished his company. An avid hunter and fisherman, he greatly enjoyed the Gulf Coast and many voyages on the ol’ Shark Hunter, which like everything, created a lifetime of crazy adventures and great memories with great friends, never to be forgotten.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Judy Olson, and his daughters, Kym and Krista Olson, as well as many cherished friends and a community that will remember him for his laughter, leadership, and legacy of kindness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
