Lt. Col. Ray Charles LaFleur
Lt. Col. Ray Charles LaFleur passed away on January 10, 2025. He was a retired Air Force Veteran of 20 Years having served in Vietnam, South Korea and Japan. After retirement he went to work for the State of Texas Department of Human Resources for 18 years.
He was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, on November 14, 1937, later moving to Rayne, Louisiana, and then to Sulphur, Louisiana. He graduated from high school and moved back to LaFayette where he graduated from The University of Southwest, Louisiana. He received his commission from the Air Force and returned to Sulphur to marry his high school sweetheart Margie Sellers. Margie and his daughter Leah moved with Ray to South Korea and Japan they had another daughter Monique.
Ray and Margie were together for 69 years before his passing at Volante Assisted Living Teravista Club Drive in Round Rock, Texas. At Volante he met a very special buddy, Let. Col Daryl Stevens. Daryl has become a special part of our family.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Gabe and Agnes LaFleur, and his brothers David, Jerry and Ben. He leaves behind his beloved wife Margie, his daughters Leah and partner David and Monique LaFleur. He was a grandfather to Christian Dixon and wife Missy, granddaughter Tara Dixon and great-granddaughter DeJanea Williams. He has two surviving brothers Tom LaFleur and John LaFleur and wife Linda. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Volante Assisted Living was a very special home for Ray this past year with many beautiful people and a wonderful staff.
A celebration of Life will held at Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas, on Monday, January 20, 2025
at 1 p.m.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas. In Lieu of Flowers donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
