Nancy Puryear Brown

Nancy Puryear Brown, age 78, residing in Georgetown, Texas, passed away February 26, 2025.

Nancy was born December 19, 1946, in Yokosuka, Japan, to Olga and Earnest Puryear. After graduating high school in Austin, she met and married David Brown in 1966. Together they had two children, Mardi and Jordan. She lived and worked in Austin for the Texas Senate for many years before her retirement and move to Georgetown.

Nancy’s pastimes were quiet and introspective. She enjoyed traveling and loved Paris and Italy. She loved to curl up with a murder mystery and tinker in home and garden design, passing time after retirement with plants and landscaping in the company of her ever present canine companions. Her love for gardening, decorating and landscaping was eclipsed only by her love of dogs. She was a frequent donor to Puppy Food Bank and Sara Sanctuary. Nancy had a strong moral compass, with her firm sense of ethics and fairness passed on to her children.

She is preceded in death by her parents Earnest and Olga Puryear.

She is survived by her daughter, Mardi (husband Marcus); her son Jordan (wife Kimberlee); their father David Brown; and her sisters Phyllis Puryear and Barbara Bourland (husband Jim) plus numerous friends, family and neighbors who will miss her greatly.

Cremation was Nancy’s choice of funeral arrangement. A private remembrance will be scheduled soon.

Certainly, as her sister Phyllis wrote, she is resting peacefully “surrounded by all of her many beloved pets gone before her.”
